Species Saturday, vol. 5. This one veered toward being about shorebirds in general.

Sanderlings are small sandpipers. Convinced myself not to call them “rotund,” but saying I’m not using a word kind of equates to using it.

If possible I’d like to avoid using the in my opinion less kind descriptor, “plump.” Used by the Cornell Lab and by Audubon. It doesn’t make sense for me to have these apprehensions. I’m not going to hurt a…
