Trying To Get On The Board, pt. 1

My first solo nighttime striper outing of 2023. Didn't catch a fish. Plan to try again tonight. This starts by looking back on years of fly fishing for striped bass, but eventually covers the evening.

The morning before I went off to solo nighttime fly fish for striped bass the first time in 2023, yesterday May 12, I cracked open the newest issue of The Drake alongside my favorite mug brimming with coffee. Spoiler: I did not catch anything when I did fish—though it was great to be out there trying. I’ll get out to try until I do catch something.
